Final Round of SERC
Fontana Village, NC
This was the final round of the series and was a no drop race so all contenders were on hand. The aqards banquet followed the race awards. Below, Seth celebrates another victory with Cory.
In the Sr Mens Expert race Brandon took the early lead with Seth in tow, but lost out as Seth took over at the end of the first of 4 laps. Cory (3rd) and Wes (4th) chased hard on this slightly muddy course to round out the top 4. Previous nights rain surprisingly left the course damp but not wet.
In the pro race Andy took the early lead so he could control the pace up the first steep climb but gave it up at the top so he could sit in. The past 8 weeks on the road left his legs a little hollow so he had no choice but to cruise in for a finish in 4th place while the leaders duked it out. Andy had missed a time trial event, new to this year, so was not mathmatically able to win the series unless there were some dnf's at the front, so came in slightly unmotivated today.
The big fun was Saturday might's Short Track Race.
This was a 15 minute plus two lap race on a course that took about 60 seconds to complete.
Eventual winner Woodall took an early lead while Andy pulled Seth along in chase. Seth, also tired from travels and his previous win at Nationals, held Andy's wheel, but was not able to give chase. Seth pulled a few laps while Andy rested in his draft but another rider got by and got away. In the end Andy sprung up to pass the 2nd place rider to take 2nd spot on podium and Seth held tight to take 4th. Cory and Wes fell victim to the fast pace at the front and became lap traffic but still finished 7th and 6th.

Seth took the Sr Expert series title with a perfect score of 300.
Wes took 3rd after a tight race for 2nd in the series.
Andy took 2nd in the Pro Men even having missed a time trial (while working a camp in CO). It was the tt points that made the difference in this close series.
