Cyclo What?
Cyclocross (si-klo-kross).- This is a bicycle race that is contested on a short loop of varying terrain.  The course consist of a mixture of pavement, grass, dirt, rolling hills and several sections of "barriers" where the riders must dismount and carry the bike while running.  Barriers are small hurdles 16 inches high and usually come in sets of 3 spaced about 12 feet apart.
The race duration is based on time.  Depending on the category level the race could last from 30 minutes to an hour.  Because of the short lap times of around 4 minutes these races are great for spectators to watch.
  Anyone is eligible to compete.

Do I need Training Wheels?
The sport needs teams like Training Wheels. Training Wheels, Inc. is a non-profit bicycle racing team dedicated to the development of young cyclist.  Recently our mtb team joined forces with Training Wheels, Inc. as a premier off-road racing developmental program.  Training Wheels, Inc. was established in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation organized in the state of Georgia. Training Wheels, Inc. sole purpose is to establish a comprehensive bicycle-racing program for young men and women between the ages of 13 and 18 with an additional for U23's to compete on the road, mtb, track and cyclocross.

COURSE
I'm more happy with the course than ever.  We have added a few new sections to the configuration including a double track road/trail that has a little climb in it.
It might have a more european flair to it than most.   Remaining is the zig-zag ditch crossing that is rideable by some, ONE BARRIER SECTION and a romp through an enclosed playground chacterized by mulch and a retaining wall that is 8-14 inches high.
The rest is a mix of paved trail and open grass with a few turns in the wooded picnic areas.  The course will take concentration as there are a lot of surface and terrian changes and few long stretches.  An all-around good course to contest State Championships.  We will be marking the course Friday afternoon, check back for estimated time of opening.
